The La Masse sector operates independently of the La Croisette lifts, so riders who cross to the east face in the morning often stay there for several runs before returning — the vertical drop from the La Masse summit back to the valley is significant and it is a long traverse if you want to cross back mid-run. Understanding that rhythm, and timing your La Masse visit to avoid a late-afternoon gondola queue, is part of getting the most from a day in Les Menuires.

Best runs by ability at Les Menuires

Beginners and early intermediates have a genuinely good base at Les Menuires. The valley floor at 1450 m is lower than some competing bases and can be affected by warm spells in March and April, but the upper pistes usually remain skiable even when the base is soft. If you are booking later in the season, plan to start high and descend as the day warms rather than counting on the valley run to be in perfect condition at 3 pm.

La Masse is east-facing, which means it catches the morning sun and can be in shade by early afternoon. The La Croisette side faces more westerly and gets afternoon light. An effective day in Les Menuires in mid-season often starts on La Masse while the groomers are firm from the overnight freeze, then crosses back to the La Croisette runs and the wider valley connections for the afternoon when the east face begins to soften.
